Year: 2025

Pepeha

LI: To let others know who I am so they can make connections to me and my place in the world.

Our challenge today was to write and record our pepeha to introduce ourselves.

I found this intresting because i didn’t know that much history about my ancestor but it was also fun because i got to learn how to say my stuff about in moari and it was awesome.

The Kokako

LI: To use our smart searching skills

Hunua. Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words.

Something I found interesting about the kokako bird was they kinda have a twin which is the south island Kokako Bir and another thing i found intresting was Their bad at flying but they are good at jumping and hoping and their friendly.

Exploring Ai

LI: To identify and understand how descriptive language is used to create a clear picture of a setting in a text.

This is the image I created using the Adobe Express. I found this activity challenging because when you wirte what you want the exsact thing wont show up but I found it fun because we had to use a lot of materials.

Something I learnt when using prompts for AI is you can make a lot of stuff using AI, and it looks so realistic and its so fun to use and its give you more and more ideas to add.

Who is Samuel Marsden

LI: To use our smart searching skills to find out who Samuel Marsden was and what he is known for.

We used our smart searching skills to research facts about Samuel Marsden. To make sure our facts were right we used websites that gave us the information and double checking we were able to use 3 websites.

Something interesting I found out about Samuel marsden was that he was the first missionary in the country that showed christanality and he was born in england in 1765 and later moved to New Zealand and Australia.

I learnt also it is important to use my own words because i it make sence to me compared to compy and paste off google and i will look like a fool if Mrs told me what that means

Kauri Dieback

LI: To understand the story behind our flag

Our challenge today was to use the links provided and our own smart searching skills to find out what Kauri dieback is and what we need to do to try and prevent this from spreading. We need to know about this so that we do our part to keep our Kauri safe when we go on hike at camp. I worked with Kane and we found it interesting that Kauri dieback disease is having a devastating effect on our kauri trees and the forest ecosystem that relies on them.

When The Disease is spreading the Tree Begins to fall and when it falls the Kauri Dieback Get out and the go find another Kauri Tree.

Evolution of the NZ Flag

LI: To understand the story behind our flag

This Year Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time. Something I found interesting was The United Nz flag was made in 1834 designed by Henry Williams. Britain saw New Zealand as a individual nation and think of the mana from the chiefs
